By agility On February 10, 2012 Under Agility Training, Speed Training, Vertical Leap

The burpee is a calisthenic exercise used to achieve total body muscular endurance. This exercise will develop strength, explosive power, and anaerobic endurance. Burpees are basically combination of a squat, pushup, and vertical leap. The burpee is a exercise that requires no special equipment.

Begin in a standing position. Squat down and touch your hands to the floor. Kick your legs backward so that they are fully extended. As your legs move to extension, perform a push-up. As you push up, bring your knees to your chest. Finally, jump into the air as high as possible. As you jump reach up with your hands. Perform the exercise quickly.

For Advanced Athletes Try

Dumbbell Burpees Hold a pair of dumbbells in hand while performing Burpees

Weighted Vest Burpees A good weighted vest is more convenient than a pair of dumbbells

You can perform this exercise 3-5 days per week. Burpees are a great way to warm-up and condition before your strength training.
